International Trout Fishing Tournament - November:
A fun family oriented weekend tournament with over $15000 worth of prizes to be won. The 2009 Tournament is a TWO day Tournament (not three days as in previous years). First time entrants are welcome. There will be information and assistance available from Eastern Region Fish and Game at the Tournament for those new to trout fishing.

Agricultural and Pastoral show - Held on one of N Z's most picturesque Show Grounds which is also the venue of the famous Agrodome and Adventure sight - featuring equestrian, harness horse, miniature horse, heavy horse and donkey and mule events, dairy, beef , dexter and highland cattle events, dairy, boer and nubian goat events, black and coloured sheep event, shearing and Axemens competitions, plus entertainment for children and adults, ride on mower racing, and trade and food sites.

Tarawera Ultramarathon Run and Relays - March
The annual Tarawera Ultramarathon is a 50-mile (80km) trail ultramarathon run from Rotorua to Kawerau in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. Along way you will pass through exotic forestry, native bush, Blue Lake and Lakes Okareka, Okataina and Tarawera plus waterfalls and follow a beautiful river. Most of the run is on single track trails or forestry roads. There will be a new 100km distance and a new riverside finish area in Kawerau. Buffet aid stations, pacers and relay options also.
